Choosing your Cocoon
- Shell: matte black, matte white or stainless steel.
- Pole: stainless, black, white, copper or brass.
- Bracket: standard for flat ceilings or angled for sloped ceilings.
- Height: extension poles in 250, 500 and 1,000 mm lengths.
- No ceiling fixing: the Cocoon Pedestal stands the same shell on the floor, from NZ$4,480.
Installing a Cocoon Aeris
The ceiling bracket fixes into the ceiling structure. Follow the Cocoon install manual for clearances and ventilation. Because it needs no flue, it suits apartments and existing homes.
Using it safely
Use bioethanol made for fireplaces, and only refuel once the flame is out and the burner is cold. Fill the stainless shell with ice and it doubles as a drinks cooler when the fire is not in use. The painted finishes are for indoor use; Cocoon says the stainless model can be used outside if stored inside and out of rain and salt air.
Running cost
With fuel at about NZ$5.50 to NZ$5.75 a litre, a full 1.5 L tank costs under NZ$9. See bioethanol running costs.
